June 2018 Global Job-Opening-to-Application Ratio Soars to 1.99, increasing 0.14 points from the previous month

***The June 2018 Global Job-Opening-to-Application Ratio is 1.99***

　Daijob Global Recruiting Co. Ltd (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuji Shinohara), a subsidiary of Human Holdings Co. Ltd, which operates the bilingual job search site Daijob.com, summarized the global job-opening-to-application ratio as of the end of June 2018.
※The global job-opening-to-application ratio expresses the supply-demand balance for job openings for bilingual job seekers (with at least two languages) with business level skills (job-opening-to-application ration= = job openings ÷ job seekers)

　The June 2018 global job-opening-to-application ratio was 1.99, a 0.14 point rise from the previous month. This is also a 0.41 point rise from the 1.58 ratio from the same month last year, which shows a market more favorable to job seekers compared to one year ago. This is the ninth consecutive month since October 2017 that the ratio exceeds the one from the same month of the previous year, indicating a seller’s market continues.

　Looking at the global job-opening-to-application ratio by industry, the top-three industries in June were Electric Utilities, Gas, Heating, Water Supply; Medical, Social Welfare; and Finance, Insurance.
　The number of job openings has increased from the previous month in the following ten industries: Manufacturing; Wholesale, Retail; Accommodation and Food Services; Finance, Insurance; Construction, Real Estate, Goods Rental and Leasing; Electric Utilities, Gas, Heating, Water Supply; Transportation and Postal; Telecommunications; Service; and Agriculture and Forestry, Fisheries, and Mining.
　Additionally, the number of job seekers has increased from the previous month in the following six industries: Manufacturing; Wholesale, Retail; Accommodation and Food Services; Academic Research, Professional and Technical Services, Education, Learning Support; Service; and Agriculture and Forestry, Fisheries, and Mining.
