Companies and attendees from all over the world: Daijob Go Global Career Fair Results

Attendees from over 40 countries (including Japan)

Subsidiary of Human Holdings Co., Ltd. and operators of Japan's largest jobsite for bilinguals Daijob.com, Daijob Global Recruiting Co., Ltd., hosted on July 10th 2015 the Go Global Career Fair aimed at bilingual professionals. This report focuses on the results of a survey taken among the participants of the fair.

【Date/Time】:Friday 10th July 2015 16:30 - 21:00
【Venue】:Otemachi Sankei Hall

Around 70% of the exhibiting companies were foreign-affiliated, while around half of all exhibiting companies were actively looking for foreigners.
Companies were primarily hiring for positions in IT or manufacturing, however needs were also observed in categories such as finance/accounting, sales and planning/marketing. These categories have recently been seen to have a high number of job postings compared to the number of relevant employees in other studies conducted by Daijob.
Each company booth was visited by an average 59 people, and 59% of exhibiting companies also indicated an initial desire to hire between 1-5 of the people they met on the day.

Our survey showed that 73% of job-seekers were interested in at least 3 companies exhibiting at the fair, having spoken face-to-face with HR managers. 68% of job-seekers had at least 3 years of business experience, with half of all attendees being non-Japanese. People representing 40 nationalities (including Japanese) attended the event.

◆Survey Results: Experience working abroad(Job-seekers)

212 people responded to the career fair survey. Half were Japanese and half were foreign, with respondents representing countries such as China, India, Korea, America, France, Brazil and Russia. 50% of respondents mentioned that they have experience working outside their home country, the majority of which having done so in their 20s. In addition, 77% of those who had worked abroad also had experience studying abroad, while 59% of those who studied abroad had done so on a long-term basis (over 1 year).

◆Survey Results:Exhibiting Companies

When we asked exhibiting companies their purpose for joining the career fair, 21% said it was "the chance to speak to many people at once", 16% mentioned "the chance to have face-to-face communication". This is perhaps due to the fact that it is far easier to clarify a candidate's language ability in person, than judge by their resume.
