The September 2017 global job-opening-to-application ratio is 1.33


 Daijob Global Recruiting Co. Ltd (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuji Shinohara), a subsidiary of Human Holdings Co. Ltd, which operates the bilingual job search site Daijob.com, summarized the global job-opening-to-application ratio as of the end of September 2017.
※The global job-opening-to-application ratio expresses the supply-demand balance for job openings for bilingual job seekers (with at least two languages) with business level skills (job-opening-to-application ration= = job openings ÷ job seekers)

 The September global job-opening-to-application ratio is 1.33, a 0.16 point rise from the previous month. After last month’s summer holidays, the market has rebounded with a 35.2% jump in job openings.

◆Global Job Openings to Job-Seekers Ratio by Industry

Top 3 Job Industries
•Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries 8.00 (+6.28 from August)
•Medical and Social Welfare 5.00 (+ 4.33 from August)
•Telecommunications 2.77 (+0.92 from August)

Looking at the global job-opening-to-application ratio by industry, the top-three industries are Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries; Medical and Social Welfare; and Telecommunications. Among the 12 industries, the job-opening-to-application ratio rose in seven: Manufacturing; Accommodation and Food Services; Construction, Real Estate, Goods Rental and Leasing; Telecommunications; Medical and Social Welfare; Academic Research, Professional and Technical Services, Education, Learning Support; and Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries. Additionally, the number of job openings decreased slightly compared to that of the previous month in two industries—Transportation and Postal, and Services—stayed level in one industry—Electric Utilities, Gas, Heating, Water Supply—and increased in the remaining nine industries. In particular, job openings in Manufacturing increased 44.1% compared to that of the previous month, confirming a seller’s market advantageous to job seekers.

 Looking at the global job-opening-to-application ratio for September by job category, the top-three job categories are Electronics (Appliance/Semiconductor); Medical/Pharmaceutical/Bio/Material/Food; and Property/Real Estate Assets/Real Estate. Additionally, in the following six categories the rate has more than doubled, reaching noteworthy high levels: IT Technical Systems; Automative/Plant Engineering/Precision Equipment; Finance/Accounting; General Affairs/Human Resources/Legal Affairs; Marketing/PR; and Sales.
